Biography of Nadia Buari: Career, Movies & More

Nadia Buari is a popular Ghanaian actress. In this post, we take a look at her life as an actress as well as her personal life.

Early Life
Nadia was born on the 21st of November 1982 in Takoradi to a Lebanese father and Ghanaian mother. Although she never knew her father, a few years after she was born, her mother got married to Alhaji Sidiku Buari who adopted as his daughter.

Education
The actress studied performing arts at the University of Ghana where she graduated with a BFA degree. During her school days, she was an active member of the school drama and dance clubs.
Career

Buari debuted as an actress when she featured in the TV series Games People Play in late 2005. But her first major role was in Mummy’s Daughter.

The actress shot into limelight when she featured in the movie, Beyonce: The President’s Daughter. Since her debut, Buari has starred on over 100 movies.

In 2013, she produced her own movie, The Diary of Imogen Brown. The actress began featuring in Nollywood movies in 2008. The movie that brought to reckoning in Nollywood was Beyonce and Rihanna where she featured alongside Omotola Jalade Ekeinde. The film was quite popular in Nigeria and Ghana.

She has also featured in movies like Rough Rider, Beauty and the Beast, Holding Hope and Single and Married.

The actress starred alongside Jim Iyke in movies like Beyonce & Rihanna film series, Hot Romance and Behind a Smile.

The duo featured in the Unscripted TV series which was produced by Jim Iyke.


The actress received two nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2001 and 2009.

Awards
In 2013, Buari won the Pan African Actress award at the annual Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA Awards) in New York City.

In 2014, she was given a special recognition award during the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards & Event held in Accra, Ghana

Personal life
It was reported that Nadia Buari and Jim Iyke were dating in 2014, although the actor has denied the rumours stating that the rumours were based on the reality TV show they were shooting together.

The actress has twin girls although she has failed to reveal who their father is but she has claimed that Jim Iyke isn’t their father. Reports claim the father of her twins is an Atlanta based Arab man.

Buari disclosed that she feels great being a mother although she still has to shuttle between movie locations and being with her kids.

The actress revealed that she is quiet, shy and reserved unlike the role she plays in movies.

Buari had her twins on February 2015 in the United States of America. The actress revealed that the father of her kids isn’t a Ghanaian. Although she recently posted a picture of herself with their father but she didn’t reveal his name. According to her, she didn’t want her private life in public.

In 2013, Buari released her first ever movie titled, “Diary of Imogen Brown.” She starred alongside Jim Iyke in the movie.

She played the lead role in this movie which she also produced and directed. The plot of the movie revolves around Imogen Brown (Nadia Buari), a successful business woman with a beautiful daughter, wonderful home, a diamond business empire and a handsome boyfriend (Jim Iyke).

But her boyfriend was having an affair with two of her closest friends and his real intention was getting her wealth. He tried to get her to marry him but he failed and after several futile attempts, he eventually walked out of the relationship.

The heartbroken Imogen resorted to drugs and subsequently became an addict. The movie also starred Ghanaian midfielder, Kevin Prince Boateng.

In 2017, Nadia Buari featured in the movie Deranged. The movie is about a young girl that fell in love with her teacher.

The cast of the movie was quite star-studded and these included the likes of Zynnell Zuh, Priscilla Opoku Agyeman popularly known as Ahuofe Patri

The movie was directed by Jameel Buari and produced by John N. Okwugo. Deranged.

Other members of the cast include Ramsey Nouah, Jason E.L Agha, Henry Prempeh and Lisbeth Lopez Acquah among others.

Buari is said to be worth an estimated $750,000 which ultimately  makes  her one of the richest Ghanaian actresses.

Jim Iyke
In 2014, it was reported that Buari was dating fellow actor, Jim Iyke. In fact, it was said that the actor had even proposed to marry her.

At some point, the actor disclosed that his family had met the actress and marriage was an attractive proposition to him.

The rumours have since been put to bed when Jim Iyke revealed in an interview that everything he did with Buari was just a show as it was part of the plot of his reality TV series, Unscripted.

The actor revealed that the process helped him increase his fan base and followership. Unfortunately, people still think the things that what happened on the reality TV show were real.

Jim Iyke is a popular Nollywood actor. He has featured in movies like Last Flight to Abuja, Diary of Imogen Brown and American Driver.
