Warren Edward Buffett popularly known as Warren Buffett.  Buffet  is a famous American business leader, entrepreneur, investor and a philanthropist, who serves as the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Berkshire Hathaway, one of the most successful company in the world. Warren Buffett is the  son of a U.S. congressman, he first bought stock at age 11 and first filed taxes at age 13. He has committed to giving more than 99% of his fortune to charity. So far he has given nearly $32 billion. With friend Bill Gates he launched The Giving Pledge in 2010, asking billionaires to donate half their wealth to charitable causes.

He was born on 30th August 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska in the United States of America. He is currently 87 years old. Warren Buffett is the second child in a family of three children, comprising of two girls and being the only son. His father’s name is Howard Buffett while his mother’s name is Leila Buffett.

Warren Buffett began his education at Rose Hill Elementary School. In 1942, his father was elected to the first of four terms in the United States Congress. After moving with his family to Washington D.C. in the United States of America, Warren Buffett completed his elementary school and obtained his Elementary School Certificate.

 

After completing his elementary school education, Warren Buffett attended Alice Deal Junior High School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947. After completing his high school education and finding success with his entrepreneurial and investment ventures, Warren Buffett wanted to skip college to go directly into business, but was overruled by his father.

He was inspired by a book he borrowed from the Omaha public library at the age of 7 years old titled “One Thousand Ways to Make $1000”. Much of Warren Buffett early childhood years were enlivened with entrepreneurial ventures.

One of his first business ventures was the selling of chewing gum, Coca-cola bottles and weekly magazines door to door. He worked in his grandfather’s grocery store. While still in high school, Warren Buffett made money delivering newspapers, selling golf balls, stamps and detailing cars, among other means. On his first income tax return in 1944, Warren Buffett took a $35 deduction for the use of his bicycle and watch on his paper route.

In 1945, as a high school sophomore, Warren Buffett and his friend spent $25 to purchase a used pinball machine which they placed in the local barber shop. Within months, they owned several machines in three different barber shops across Omaha. The business was sold later in the year for $1,200 to a war veteran.

In 1950, Warren Buffett attended Columbia Business School in the United States of America and graduated in 1951. In 1952, Warren Buffett got married to his wife Susan Buffett and the marriage is currently blessed with three grown-up children namely Susan Alice Buffett, Peter Buffett and Howard Graham Buffett. Unfortunately, in 2004, his wife Susan Buffett died after 53 years of marriage. In 2006, at the age of 76 years old, Warren Buffett got married again to Astrid Menks.

He created the Buffett Partnership after meeting with Charlier Munger and his business firm eventually acquired a textile manufacturing firm called “Berkshire hathaway” and assumed its name to create a diversified holding company.

Essentially, Warren Buffett concentrated investments shelter managers from the short-term pressures of the market. Warren Buffett is a notable philanthropist, having pledged to give away 99 percent of his fortune to philanthropic causes, primarily via the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2009, he founded “The Giving Pledge” alongside with Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, whereby billionaires pledge to give away at least half of their fortunes.

Warren Buffett is also active in politics and contributing to political causes, having endorsed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 United States presidential election. He has publicly opposed the policies, actions and statements of the current President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.
