Whenever the discussion of world’s largest tech comes to mind, the U.S comes first, though the Asian companies are making their way into the list of top tech companies in the world.

With Apple AAPL +0.4% assuming the top position of tech companies in the world, they are not only ranking the largest tech company in the world, but also the eighth largest company in the world on Forbes Global 2000 list. The company saw $247.5 billion in sales, $53 billion in profit, $367.5 billion in assets and a market cap of $927 billion for the past year. Technology companies account for about 130 spots on Forbes’ 2000 Global list, the world’s annual ranking of the largest public companies.

In summary, tech companies across 18 different countries featured on forbes’ list. Though the Asia-Pacific region had 59 companies on the list, the U.S. alone accounted for 54 companies.

Below is the list of the world’s largest technology companies by revenue.

The list is made up of companies whose primary business activities are associated with technology industry such as computer hardware, semiconductor, software, electronics, telecom equipment, internet, e-commerce and computer services.

Apple Inc.

This is an American multinational technology company who’s headquartered is located in Cupertino, California, that is into designs, developments and sells consumer electronics, online services and computer software.

Apple’s consumer software consist of the following, the iTunes media player, macOS and iOS operating systems, the Safari web browser, the iLife and iWork creativity and productivity suites. Its online services include the Apple Music, iTunes Store, iCloud, the iOS App Store and Mac App Store.

Its hardware products include the iPhone smartphone, the iPod portable media player, the iPad tablet computer, the Mac personal computer, the Apple TV digital media player and the Apple Watch smartwatch.

The company was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne in April. They develop and sell personal computers.

This is a South Korean multinational Electronics Company who’s headquartered is located in Suwon, South Korea. It is the second largest information technology company in the world according revenue. They are a major manufacturer of electronics such as semiconductors, flash memory and hard drive devices for clients such as Apple, Sony, HTC and Nokia, lithium-ion batteries and semiconductors.

Foxconn

Foxconn Technology Group is a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturing company headquartered in New Taipei City, Taiwan. It is the third largest information technology company by revenue. The company has been involved in series of controversies regarding how it manages employees in China. The company’s working condition has been associated to suicide histories at its factories. In January 2012, about 150 Foxconn employees threatened to commit mass-suicide in protest of their working conditions.

Simply referred to as Amazon, this is an American electronic commerce and cloud computing company, established in July 5, 1994 by Jeff Bezos and based in Seattle, Washington. They started as an online bookstore before advancing to DVDs, CDs, video downloads/streaming, audiobook downloads/streaming, software, video games etc. They are the largest Internet-based retailer in the world by total sales and market capitalization.

Amazon surpassed Walmart as the most valuable retailer in the United States by market capitalization in 2014. In 2016, it became the fourth most valuable public company.

HP Inc.

HP Inc. is an American technology company, founded on November 1, 2015 as one of two successors of Hewlett-Packard, It is widely regarded as the larger successor of Hewlett-Packard in terms of revenue.

Microsoft

The company was established by Allen and Bill Gates on April 4, 1975, to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800.Its headquartered is based in Redmond, Washington. An American multinational technology company. They manufacture, develop, licenses, support and sells computer software with consumer electronic and PCs.

IBM

Another American multinational technology company with headquarters in Armonk, New York. U.S. It operates in over 170 countries in the world. International Business Machines Corporation manufactures and markets computer hardware, middleware and software, and offers hosting and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to nanotechnology. In 1911, the company originated as the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company, in 1924, it was renamed “International Business Machines”
