How to Reset Forgotten Windows 10 Password
If you forgot the Windows 10 administrator password, you will not be able to install any software. Sometimes you can not even use your computer. Microsoft does not make it easy for you to reset your password, but it does have some options. In this tutorial, we will show you 6 simple ways to reset the forgotten Windows 10 password for the administrator and the Microsoft account. Rest assured that at least one way will help you.
Method 1: Use the password reset disk
The use of a password reset disk is the official Microsoft method for resetting a lost Windows password. The only drawback of this method is that you need to create a disk to reset the Windows 10 password before losing your password.

If you have created a password reset disk, you can easily set a new password to log in to your Windows 10 computer. Take a look at this tutorial: How to use a password reset disk in Windows 10.
Method 2: Log in with another login option
If you can still sign in to Windows 10 with a PIN, image password or other administrator account, there is a good chance that you can open a raised Command Prompt and reset the Windows 10 password easily.
Simply press the Windows + X logo key on your keyboard to open the quick access menu and click on Command Prompt (Admin). To reset your forgotten password, type the following command and press Enter. Replace account_name and new_password with your username and the desired password respectively.

Method 3: Reset the Microsoft account password online
Since Windows 8, most people now use a Microsoft account to log in to Windows. When you forgot your Microsoft account password, just use another computer to visit the Windows Live password reset page on the Microsoft website, and you can reset your password online. It is relatively easier than resetting the password of the local account.

This method requires that you have access to the alternate email account or the phone number you provided when you signed up for the Microsoft account. If you no longer have access to them, Microsoft will not be able to verify your identity. In that case, you can convert the Microsoft Windows 10 account to a local account from a boot device, so you can log back into Windows 10 without losing files.
Method 4: Reset the Windows 10 password with MSDaRT
DaRT (Microsoft Diagnostic and Recovery Toolkit) is a set of Microsoft tools that helps IT professionals recover computers that have become unusable. Start your computer with the DaRT Recovery CD and then start the built-in Locksmith Wizard tool, which allows you to reset the Windows 10 password of any local account.

PCUnlocker allows you to unlock any Windows computer that has been blocked by a forgotten password. It is a boot image that can be written to a CD or a USB stick using the free ISO2Disc software. After booting from PCUnlocker Live CD (or USB), you can see all local accounts for your installation of Windows 10.
